AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Bethany Weaver

 Good morning, readers!

This is our last book in the 'autumnal' series for September. Though the book does review tomorrow, October 1.

BIO:

Bethany Weaver embarked on her writing journey way too early in life, penning alien smut that would make E.T. blush. Now, she dabbles in both contemporary and paranormal romances, keeping the literary scales perfectly aligned.

When she's not concocting love stories, you can find her being a mom of three, juggling the chaos. But that's not all—she's also the undisputed queen of literary badassery as the head honcho over at Weaver Literary.

I'll be posting my review of her first book tomorrow. I hope you'll come back. In the mean time, you can find out more about Bethany by following any of the links below.

REVIEW WEDNESDAY - The Next Chapter Book Shop

 Good morning, friends!

I look forward to sharing this read with you.

Blurb:

What happens when a high-powered attorney inherits a small-town bookshop that seems to have a mind of its own?

Charlie Whitmore has her life perfectly planned out. As a rising star at a prestigious Manhattan law firm, she's on the fast track to partnership, with spreadsheets for everything and a five-year plan that doesn't include any surprises.

Until her beloved Aunt Beth dies and leaves her a small-town bookshop in Vermont.

Oak & Ink Bookshop has stood in the heart of Leafwood Falls for nearly a century, beloved by locals for its uncanny ability to match readers with exactly the right book at exactly the right time. Charlie's plan is simple: assess the shop's value, list it for sale, and return to Manhattan before her corporate career derails.

But Leafwood Falls has other ideas.

Between a cantankerous orange cat named Hemingway with very specific literary opinions, a shop assistant whose organizational system defies all logic, and a community that instantly adopts her as one of their own, Charlie's quick business trip stretches into weeks. And then there's the bookshop itself—with its creaky floors, mysteriously moving books, and secrets hidden within its walls.

As Charlie dives deeper into her aunt's legacy, she finds herself torn between two worlds and two men: Lawrence, a sophisticated developer with plans to transform the town while preserving its charm, and Ethan, the rugged local contractor whose quiet demeanor hides unexpected depths. One represents the safe, successful future she's always worked toward; the other embodies the authentic connection she didn't know she was missing.

With her carefully constructed life unraveling, Charlie must decide whether she's just passing through—or finally finding her way home. Because in a bookshop where stories have a habit of finding the readers who need them most, perhaps the most surprising story of all is her own.

Perfect for readers who loved THE BOOKSHOP ON THE CORNER, THE LOST AND FOUND BOOKSHOP, and THE STORIED LIFE OF A.J. FIKRY. A heartwarming story about second chances, finding your authentic self, and the magic that happens when you open yourself to possibility.

This is Book 1 in the Leafwood Fall series.
I loved the characters - all of them. Each brought their own bit of quirkiness and charm to the story. Charlie was exactly as I knew she'd be. She had family history to immerse herself in; most of which she already knew and helped her to settle in to the challenges facing her. Sometimes we have to return to the life we thought we wanted to know, that wasn't the case at all.
I knew instantly I would Love Ethan. He reminds me of my husband. Quiet, handy, ready to jump in and help. While Lawrence may seem the perfect gentleman, be ware of a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Harley was my favorite of them all. Never mind I have a ginger cat with a full-blown attitude but cats and book stores just go together. They do make great sleuths, too?
Let's not forget the best character in the entire story- The Next Chapter Book Shop is indeed it's own character, with a little spirited guidance. ;-)

Do you think maybe Harley is connected to Great Aunt Eleanor, or maybe Aunt Beth in some way? Let me know if the comments what you think.

I am doing something unprecedented here. I've given books five quills in the past but none of them measure up to The Next Chapter Book Shop. I'd give the book at least eight, but alas we don't do more than five here, but I can push the envelope a bit.

I hope you'll read The Next Chapter Book Shop and the other four books in the series. In the mean time, remember to check out Brooke Skie on the two links below:

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Brooke Skie

 Good morning, readers!

I have a great author for you to meet this week. She has given me something (though minimal) to work with.

BIO:

A cat person who owns a dog - how did that happen? Brooke is a writer of cozy small town romance, cats with attitude and places with a touch of magic. Brooke often gets lost in the worlds she writes and the characters she finds there.

I'll be posting my review of The Next Chapter Book Shop : Book 1 in the Leafwood Falls series

REVIEW WEDNESDAY - Golden Days of Autumnville

 Good morning, readers.

Another short read today, only eighty-five pages.

Golden Days of Autumnville just sings autumn, right? Leaves are turning to 'golden', the air carries a crispness of 'autumn'....

This was a book I definitely wanted to include in the September Reads series.

BLURB:

Marigold Harper has spent her whole life in Autumnville, a charming Vermont town where fall colors the world in gold and cinnamon, and the scent of fresh cupcakes from her bakery fills the streets. After losing her husband too young, Marigold built a quiet, steady life — safe, simple, and closed off to anything that could hurt her again.

Gabriel Reid is the last person Autumnville needs — a polished, big-city businessman sent to scout small towns for corporate buyouts. Cold. Calculated. Temporary. But from the moment he steps into Marigold’s bakery, nothing goes according to plan.

Against the pull of old fears and fresh mistakes, Marigold and Gabriel find themselves tangled in something real: gentle mornings setting up the fall festival, late-night talks under starlit skies, and a connection neither expected.

Until secrets come to light — and Marigold learns Gabriel’s true reason for coming to Autumnville. Now Gabriel must prove that some risks are worth taking — and that some places, and some loves, are too good to let slip away.

I loved the story. Maple Reed is great with description and putting you IN Autumnville. She paints a picture I could see in any Hallmark movie and I think while this book is only eighty-five pages, I think formatting a script from the length would be a challenge but I'm not sure how she could flesh the story out into a longer length without feeling like the words were just added filler. I would read more from Maple Reed.

My only problem with the story was the formatting. She needs to learn how to format a book. If you are going to join the ranks of Indie Authors, learn the things that make your book the best book ever.

I'd love to introduce her to Publish & Thrive where she can learn all the ins and outs to make her books stellar.

For the formatting as a huge issue, I'm giving Golden Days in Autumnville...

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Maple Reed

 Good morning, readers!

Aside from the book I've chosen for this week, the author's name gives me a fall vibe. Maple sap begins to flow as the days turn cooler, becoming a decadent maple syrup. So why not choose an author like Maple Reed? Like Sage Whitmore last week, I couldn't find a headshot for this week's spotlight.

A bit about Maple Reed:

Maple Reed writes heartwarming romance novels set in small towns full of charm, community, and second chances. Her debut novel, Golden Days in Autumnville, invites readers into a world where autumn leaves, cozy bakeries, and unexpected love stories take center stage. Outside of writing, Maple enjoys spending time with her kids and family, and curling up with a good book.

REVIEW WEDNESDAY - Pumpkin Spice & Dangerous Nights

  Good morning, readers.

I have a book, novella really, I think you're going to love.

BLURB:

When Harper Calloway returns to Maplewood for the Harvest Festival, she only plans to spend a few quiet weeks sipping lattes and soaking in the golden glow of fall. What she doesn’t expect is to run into Eli Ward — the boy who once held her heart and the man who now knows her deepest secret.

As pumpkin spice fills the air and autumn leaves swirl through the streets, old feelings spark to life. But Maplewood holds more than cozy memories. Whispers of betrayal, a dangerous storm, and a truth long buried threaten to upend everything Harper thought she knew.

Pumpkin Spice & Dangerous Nights is a small-town fall romance filled with warmth, passion, and second chances. Perfect for fans of cozy settings with a twist of suspense, it’s a story about love rekindled when the nights turn cold and the heart longs for home.

After the very abbreviated author spotlight yesterday, I'm not sure what I expected from this book but with only thirty-three pages, I gave it a shot. I mean, what can go wrong with pumpkin spice and second chance at love, right?

In this case, not a single mis-step. Sage Whitmore knows how to write tight. In Pumpkin Spice and Dangerous Nights, we get a great opening, all the small-town feels exposed beautifully in the description, and love that never died.

If you're looking for a quick read during a lunch break or before bed, Pumpkin Spice and Dangerous Nights is the book for you.

I'm giving this book a solid...

The only link I have for Sage Whitmore is her Goodreads page.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Sage Whitmore

 Good morning, readers.

Well, today's Author Spotlight is a bit different.  There is no social media presence for Sage Whitmore whatsoever.

Now, I know this is possible but I've never actually come across an author I could not share. The only link I have for her is on Goodreads .

I'll be reviewing Pumpkin Spice and Dangerous Nights tomorrow. I hope you'll stop by for the second fall ready in our September line-up

REVIEW WEDNESDAY - Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice

 Good morning, readers!

I have the perfect book today to kick off our September reviews.

Mind you, I've never had a pumpkin spice latte and after reading how they're full of artificial flavors, I'm not sure I want to.... until I read Lucy's version. You'll see.

A bit about the book:

Gilmore Girls fans! Pour yourselves a hot cup of tea and get ready to fall in love with this cozy YA romance that will have you dreaming of autumn all year long.

Fall is a big deal in Briar Glen, a quaint and charming village in New England. That’s when tourists from all over the country descend upon this picturesque town to see the babbling brooks and colorful leaves while sipping hot chocolate or pumpkin spice lattes.

But sixteen-year-old Lucy Kane hates the uber-popular PSL. She finds it overrated -- especially when you consider the fact that there isn’t even pumpkin in it! -- which is bad because she works at Cup o’ Jo, the local coffee shop her mom owns. Business at Cup o' Jo hasn't been great in the off-season, but that's okay because it always picks up during the fall ...

Until Java Junction, a multinational coffee chain, opens across the street and makes things harder for the small shop. And to make matters worse, it turns out Jack Harper, the new kid in school and Lucy's secret crush, is the son of the owner. Suddenly, fall doesn’t seem like it'll be all it's cracked up to be. Will Lucy find a way to save her mom's coffee shop?

I have to admit, this book took me a bit. I don't read YA, but when I saw this book for $5 at the B & N cafe last week, the title just sounded perfect for this week, so I just purchased it - along with my Caramel Mocha Latte. That's fall, right?

I figured out the YA part as I started reading the book but kept going. At first I thought Lucy was a brat. One incident early in the book was like WOW! Her mother doesn't even take her to the back room and give her a talking to?! But I kept reading. The dynamic between mother/ daughter is built on them being the only two they had to depend on Lucy's entire life. Her mom CHOSE to be a single mom, though I think there's a hint in there of who Lucy's dad could be.

Some time ago I found a crockpot recipe for Pumpkin Spice Latte and wanted to give it a try. Of course, I can't find that recipe now. LOL But I did find one I think is workable if you can figure out the measurements.
You'll need to scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page. There is a video but the video doesn't give measurements.  THE MAGICAL SLOWCOOKER  Here's the VIDEO

Since I spend one day a week, pretty much all day, in my favorite coffee shop, I loved the overall story and setting. Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice definitely hits all the fall vibes and I recommend sharing with the young adult in you or in your family.

I'm giving Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice...

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT - Katie Cicatelli-Kuc

 Good morning, readers.

While out with Bob for our anniversary last week, I came across today's author/ book in the cafe at Barnes & Noble. I've noticed in the past few months they've been featuring books in the cafe for $5 with purchase. This one had all the Fall vibes, perfect for kicking off September.

Here's a bit about Katie:
