UNDER A MULBERRY MOON is a beautifully crafted anthology compiled by talented authors.
Each day for the next nine days, each author will have a turn letting us get to know them. But first... the ladies have a gift for EVERYONE who stops by... a free download of MEDLEYS & MUSINGS - a sampling of every story from Under the Mulberry Moon. Go HERE to download your copy
But that's not all!!!! Three of the participating authors will each be giving away a copy of UNDER A MULBERRY MOON to lucky visitors who leave a comment. You MUST leave a comment ABOUT THE ANTHOLOGY to qualify. So comment about one or all of the stories the authors share. Each comment will be assigned a number. Then on Thursday July 26th, I will select 3 winners using Random.org
So let's meet Carra!
BIO:
I
write contemporary and historical romances but, unlike so many other authors, I
didn't write from childhood or read long into the night beneath the covers with
a flashlight. I found romance novels as an adult. After reading about a
million, I discovered numerous people residing in my head, all looking for a
way onto the printed page.
I'm
a member of Romance Writers of America and past president of Yellow Rose
Romance Writers, plus I'm a regular contributor to the blog, Smart Girls Read
Romance.
My
husband and I live in North Central Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
where we enjoy our family and grandchildren. In addition to writing and
researching, I enjoy my Bridge group, crochet, and tracking down our relatives
through genealogy.
Here's My Five:
– I’ always asked ‘where do you get your
ideas’. So, where do you get yours?
Thank you, Angela, for having me!
I generally think of the characters for my
next story and the time period they live in. I check the timeline for the area
to see if a significant event took place, as in historical, legend, or weather.
The story develops from there. It doesn’t always happen that way,
Which comes first, the story, the
characters, or the setting?
I seriously think there’s no rhyme or
reason to the way my brain works. Lol. Most of the time the characters come
first, but every once in a while, it’s the story. Very recently my brother
called me with a story idea that worked perfectly for a hero and heroine from
my first book. The next story I’m writing has received its title first.
Which of your heroines most represent
you, or the ‘you’ you’d like to be? Why?
I think there’s a little of me in each of
my heroines, but the one that’s most representative would be Maggie Benning
from my first book. She has great love of family and trusts without question.
She doesn’t need riches or expensive baubles to be happy.
What is the single most important part
of writing for you?
The most important part of writing for me
is putting together a completed story that readers enjoy.
What’s the most romantic thing a guy
can do (or has done) for you?
Well, it doesn’t happen in my house, my
husband and I have been married too long. Lol But a very romantic thing would
be to stay in on a Saturday night and watch a good movie.
Carra's Three:
How long have you been writing -
have you always wanted to be a writer?
Being a writer couldn’t have been
farther from my mind, but the more romances and romantic suspense stories I
read, I decided to give it a try. From that point I was hooked. I’ve been
writing about twenty years, with a break when life intervened. I Indie published
my first book in 2013.
What is your writing routine once
you start a book?
Routine? There’s a routine? How
did I not know this? All silliness aside, I just try to set a goal for a
certain number of words for the day and stick to it. Some days that works.
City Girl or Country Girl
I think these days, I would have
to say City Girl. I love the air conditioner as much as I dislike our Texas
mosquitoes.
BLURB:
Donal
'Mac' McTiernan is now a civilian from the U.S. Army. Mac had planned to go
home to Dallas and live out his life. He hadn't planned on the green-eyed,
red-headed woman who would completely turn his life upside down.
Ada
Weathered has only two weeks to pay the mortgage on her land left to her by her
father or lose it. She is working at the school and cafe to earn the money but
won't make enough by the deadline. Will the handsome stranger, fresh off the
trail, be the answer to her prayers?
EXCERPT:
Bully
Bridger’s face contorted and turned a purplish red like a rutabaga.
Mac
held up his mug and said, “Miss? Can I have some of that hot coffee?”
She
pulled away from the bully’s grasp and walked toward Mac. Outwardly, she
appeared strong, but, when she poured the hot liquid into his mug, her hand
shook so severely coffee splashed onto the white tablecloth.
He
reached out, took the pot from her, and set it onto the table.
The
bully scowled in her direction but turned and left without another word. His
companion followed close on his heels, pulling the door closed behind them.
“There,”
Mac said softly, gazing into eyes almost as green as his mother’s. “He’s gone.
You’re all right, now.”
“Only
until the next time, I’m afraid.” She closed her eyes, fisted and unfisted her
hands.
“Miss,
I don’t know your trouble with the man, but if I can be of service, you’ve only
to let me know.”
Ada
drew in a breath, opened her eyes, and must have finally recognized him.
“Oh!”
Her hand went to her throat. “Great jumping grasshoppers, it’s you!”
“Aye,
‘tis me. Mac McTiernan at your disposal.”
“I
had hoped to never see you again.”
“Tis
truly heartbreakin’,” he said with a grin and his hand over his heart. “For I
was hopin’ for the opposite.”
Obviously
flustered, she whispered, “What are you doing here?”
“Lookin’
for supper and a place to sleep for the night. Findin’ you is a bonus.”
